White crust on your tile line? Cracked or loose tiles? We clean, bead blast, repair, and replace pool tile for New Braunfels hard water.

Why Pool Tile Gets White Crust in New Braunfels
Most water in New Braunfels comes from the Edwards Aquifer, which flows through limestone. That makes the water very hard, which means it carries a lot of calcium. When pool water heats up and evaporates in our long summers, the calcium is left behind on the tile at the waterline. Over time it builds into a hard white or gray crust.
There are two kinds of buildup:
- Calcium carbonate. White and flaky. It often comes off with the right cleaner and a stiff brush if caught early.
- Calcium silicate. Gray-white and very hard. It does not brush off. It needs bead blasting to remove it safely.

Our Tile Services
1. Tile Cleaning
For light buildup, dirt lines, and early calcium. We clean the waterline tile by hand without scratching the glaze.
2. Calcium Removal (Bead Blasting)
For thick scale that will not brush off. We lower the water a few inches and use a low-pressure blaster with a fine media, like glass bead, that removes the crust without harming the tile. Most pools are done in one day.
3. Pool Retiling and Tile Replacement
For tile that is cracked, falling off, stained beyond cleaning, or just out of date. We remove the old waterline tile, prep the surface, set new tile, and grout it. New tile is a good time to fix loose or hollow spots before they turn into leaks.
4. Grout and Loose Tile Repair
For a few loose tiles or missing grout. Small fixes now can stop water from getting behind the tile and causing bigger damage later.

How to Keep Calcium From Coming Back
- Test calcium hardness every week, not just chlorine and pH. See our water chemistry balancing service.
- Keep pH and alkalinity in range. High pH makes calcium come out of the water faster.
- Keep the water balanced so it is not “scaling.” Pool pros check this with a number called the saturation index (LSI).
- Brush the tile line every week.
- Top off with fresh water during heavy evaporation so the calcium does not build up as fast.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get calcium off pool tile?
Light calcium can be scrubbed off with the right cleaner. Thick, hard calcium needs bead blasting, which uses low pressure and a fine media to remove the scale without scratching the tile.
Will bead blasting damage my pool tile?
When done with the right media and pressure, bead blasting removes the calcium and leaves glazed tile looking clean. We test a small spot first.
Do you have to drain the pool to clean or replace tile?
For cleaning and bead blasting, we only lower the water a few inches below the tile line. A full retile also needs the water lowered below the tile, not a full drain.
How long does pool retiling take?
Most waterline retiles take a few days, depending on pool size and the tile picked. Cleaning and bead blasting are usually done in one day.
Why does calcium come back so fast in New Braunfels?
Local water from the Edwards Aquifer is very hard. Heat and evaporation leave calcium behind, so testing calcium hardness and keeping the water balanced every week is the best way to slow it down.
